Calibration of Humidity Sensors

Humidity

Humidity is a constant companion of every atmospheric air measurement. Accurate calibration of the mass of moisture dissolved in the air makes every air volume measurement more precise.

For many applications with dry compressed air, humidity measurement is optional and leads to hardly any improvement in the measurement signal or a reduction in the associated measurement uncertainty. The repeatability achieved here is sufficient for these measurements.

For atmospheric measurements with humid air, correcting the amount of dry air to account for the actual moisture content is an essential part of a reliable measurement chain. The possible deviations also depend on temperature. Without a humidity sensor, systematic deviations in the results at room temperature amount to approximately 1% of the flow rate.
